Statement on Anti-Discriminatory Practice
At Caxton Youth Organisation, we are firmly committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in everything we do. As a charity working with learning disabled and autistic young people, we recognise the importance of creating a safe, respectful, and empowering environment that challenges discrimination and upholds the rights and dignity of every individual.
We promote anti-discriminatory practice by:
- Young People’s Voices at the Centre: We ensure our members are active participants in shaping our programmes. We listen to and act upon the lived experiences of learning disabled and autistic young people to address barriers and promote equity.
- Inclusive Programming: Our services are designed to be accessible and responsive to a wide range of needs, recognising the intersectionality of disability with other identities, including race, gender, sexuality, and socio-economic background.
- Staff Training and Development: All staff and volunteers receive regular training in equality, diversity, and inclusion, including specific guidance on disability rights and anti-ableism, to ensure they can support our members with sensitivity and respect.
- Zero Tolerance for Discrimination: We have clear policies and procedures for addressing discrimination, bullying, and harassment within our organisation. We work proactively to create a culture of respect and allyship.
- Partnership and Advocacy: We collaborate with families, local services, and community partners to challenge systemic inequalities and advocate for greater inclusion and representation of learning disabled and autistic young people in wider society.
Caxton Youth Organisation remains committed to continual reflection and improvement in our practices to ensure that equity, dignity, and justice are at the heart of all we do.
