The trip allowed our members to step out of their comfort zones, engage with nature, and bond with each other. During their time at the activity centre, they enjoyed lots of activities such as:
- high ropes courses
- obstacle courses
- climbing
- archery
- paddle boarding
- team building challenges.
The residential trip was also a great learning opportunity. Our young people got to work on their survival skills by learning to make a fire. They also deepened their connection with nature by learning to identify forest animals in real life.
Our young people and the youth workers finished off their days by eating s’mores by the fire, chatting about their favourite parts of the trip, and enjoying each other’s company.
Here is what our young people had to say about their experiences at residentials:
“I’m very proud of myself for this time being able to stay away from home, and my whole family and parents are proud of me too. I think I have improved, and my parents think so too.”
“I was nervous, but James*, my best friend, did it with me and made me feel brave.”
“I really enjoyed residential and all the activities.”
